Giuseppe Bacci
Giuseppe Bacci

Giuseppe Bacci has had a long and distinguished career as a commercial artist illustrating magazines, designing posters, etc. for Corriere della Serra, Rizzoli, Cinzano, Bugatti to name just a few. He entered the world of commercial arts just after WW2 upon receiving his diploma from the Fine Arts School in Bologna, Italy.

Bacci has always flanked this activity with painting which has its roots in the early 20th Century art movements. His works on paper are varied. The figures in his pencil or ink drawings created with minimal line usage and Cubist style command the entirety of the paper. The tinted paper chosen as the ground of his gouaches enhances the thickly applied brush strokes of color. The proportions of the figures, the mask like appearance of their faces as well as the patterned backgrounds suggest primitive African influences. Then, there are the works in which energy explodes off the surface of the paper and where abstracted forms create a synchronistic action in the Futurist School of thought.

His commercial career now at a close enables him to fully concentrate on his paintings and drawings in his studio which overlooks the bucolic, Romagna countryside.
