Detour

As an avid cyclist and walker, my journeys through urban and rural landscapes are filled with unexpected moments that deeply resonate with me and inspire my drawings. Much of my time is spent tracing shorelines, where the interplay between weather and terrain creates fleeting yet powerful impressions. A city on the water’s edge can be dramatically transformed as the weather interacts with its architecture, adding a dynamic element to my artwork. The atmosphere constantly reshapes the ever-changing energy of the place where sea meets land.

My artwork is a reflection of these moments. I capture what I see and feel as I move through these environments. The surroundings themselves, with their unique colors and moods, play a significant role in guiding the palette I choose. Each piece begins with an underlying structure, but the vibrant and unique colors genuinely bring the piece to life. Pastel, graphite, and colored pencil are layered, enhanced, and altered to weave space throughout the composition. In the end, the experience of that moment is frozen in time, allowing the viewer to step into the world as I experienced it.
