Just before getting ready to leave Sarasota to return to Chicago, I saw the call for submissions for a special group exhibition at GAZE MODERN. This gallery is new to the Sarasota Art Scene and it has had an excellent exhibition program this season. I had just completed a new series of drawings during the winter and spring months. Taking a risk, I submitted a few new drawings. They had not yet been seen by anyone other than a couple artist friends. With delight, I received the invitation to show the new work. There were so many qualified submissions that GAZE MODERN decided to do two exhibitions. Each would display artwork by ten artists. My drawings were be presented in INTRO: Part 2.
“Always looking to push the envelope, GAZE MODERN is opening our doors to the artistically inclined in our first invitational exhibition. Looking to expand the scope of our gallery, we implore the Sarasota scene to help decide who should join our featured artists. Setting up a convergence of mediums, we hope to press the importance of the experimental.”
The exhibition was held from July 26 through August 24, 2019 at 340 Central Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34236. Contacts at the gallery are: Tim Jaegar, Gallery Director and Shelly Travis, Gallery Manager at info@gazemodern.com (best means of communication) or call 941-400-0598.
