Holiday greetings,
I hope you're gearing up for a joyful and meaningful time with your loved ones as we embrace the holiday season. Just like pausing for an espresso can enhance a bike ride, it's essential to carve out moments of stillness amid the holiday hustle.
Looking back on the past year, we've witnessed numerous changes in the world, many of which we can't control. However, focusing on our immediate surroundings, I want to let you know that this is the final newsletter for 2024. Throughout the year, I've shared the personal stories that inspired the Revealed Faith series and introduced my new drawing series, Bicycle Dynamism. There’s an exciting project underway—digital creations that will soon be available as prints, with final details coming soon. Plus, I've been delving into a series centered around the Hebrew alphabet in my sketchbooks—stay tuned as these ideas take shape!
Don’t forget to scroll down for highlights about the soon-to-close exhibition at 502 Gallery in Sarasota, FL, where my drawings have been displayed and found a home with a collector.
Wishing you all the best, Kate

New Artwork - BICYCLE DYNAMISM
NEW WORK…It’s always so satisfying to complete a new series of drawings. Bicycle Dynamism has been a fun diversion from the recent introspective subjects within my artwork. More drawings can be seen on the website; however, many more are not pictured there like Chainring Tatoo (above). Ask and I am happy to share them.
In the new series Bicycle Dynamism, I am inspired by my love of cycling and everything connected to it, from journeys to competitions. To illustrate the sport’s dynamic energy in my drawings, I have used the simplified geometry of basic triangles and circles and included vibrant colors. The bike's painted frames and the clothing fabric designs are the source for color choices. The forms and colors are just darn fun.
502 Gallery
A fun exhibition, Shopliftables 2, opened in November at 502 Gallery, a new addition to the vibrant art scene in Sarasota, Florida. This exhibition follows the success of Shopliftables 1. This new concept features art created on a 6” x 6” scale. The show highlights the talent of local Southwest Florida artists and established figures with ties to the Sarasota art community at an affordable price point for new collectors. I am honored to have been invited to participate.
The exhibition closes this month on December 21, if you are in the Sarasota area. It is open Tuesday through Friday from Noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery is located at 502 S. Pineapple in the heart of the Historic Burns Court District. You can purchase artwork through 502 Gallery. Below are the drawings that were exhibited. By the way, all the artworks in the show are, in fact, affordable!
DRAWINGS in the EXHIBITION - now in a Private Collection
The exhibition has been a great success with artwork sold to new and current collectors—a shout-out to 502 Gallery for selling my two drawings.
In the works
I am delighted to announce that I have just started working in a new digital medium. Indeed, I am moving slowly and must catch up with the latest technology. It’s a learning curve. However, I have embraced creating images on the computer and am excited with the results. Currently, I am waiting for printed samples from several drop-ship printers to determine the best quality options.
Proposed sizes will be 15" x 11" and 30" x 22". So stay tuned as more information comes regarding pricing and edition sizes.

A Little History
Here is a little history. A while ago, I dabbled in this art form. However, I am now seriously working on perfecting my technique of combining existing artwork to express my feelings about current antisemitic trends. You can take this work at face value, composed of forms, lines, etc., to bring the eye around and through the composition. Or you can imagine how I have concealed the metaphors to express feelings of revealing identity and the sense of exclusion.
Recent antisemitic actions have stirred strong emotions in me, prompting a reflection on the concept of concealment. This has led me to revisit my discomfort with revealing my true self. The expression of this discomfort started with a body of artwork titled "Concealed Faith," which later evolved into "Revealed Faith," where I found the courage to share my journey into Judaism.
This new digital artwork series begins with an underlying "Revealed Faith" image. I then overlay one or two pieces from the "Bicycle Dynamism" series, manipulating these images to create a composition that has interesting space but obscures the elements related to my faith.
By including images that embody joy and fun, they reflect a life in which there is no clear distinction between my identity and the enjoyment of life.
From Kate's Sketchbook
The Hebrew alphabet is fascinating because each letter has meaning and numerical value. When combined into words, the letters take on special significance. The letters are beautifully designed, and, like any typeface, there are variations. Having converted to Judaism, I find that creating compositions using the letter's form is a meaningful way to express my spirituality.
